About

This is me. I am a 26 year old engineer, student, occasional artist, and closeted hippie from the NY metro area.

Other details: My current favorite activity is staying up until 5:00 in the morning drinking cafè mochas and doing homework with classmates (ask my sister – it’s true). Other perhaps more normal interests include two-hand touch football games, swimming in the ocean during August heat waves, vintage clothes, and sketching/photography/painting. Currently on my playlist are Vaiasakhi das, Lilly Allen, The Shins, Blonde Redhead, The Beatles, The Killers, Kanye, Common, Lupe Fiasco and Sleater-Kinney. I don’t often watch movies, and I am trying to break my television addiction. I strongly believe in individual responsibility toward environmental sustainability. I like taking long runs that take me someplace new. And when I drive in the rain, it gives me a little thrill to watch the first sweep of the wipers across the windshield.

My reasons for creating a blog (oh, how I loathe the word!) aren’t really clear even to me. I generally think of myself as a private, guarded person, and I don’t think that my inner exhibitionist necessarily demands the attention. As much as I try to ignore it, however, I have this nagging feeling that I am writing partially because the culture that I live in demands it. My generation (I’m not sure which ‘hip’ chromosomal letter 26-year-olds are supposed to identify with – X? Y?) has become indoctrinated to believe that if it wasn’t documented, it never happened. So, as much as I don’t like it, I think at some level, I am writing because I want my future self to know what I was once like; that I, complete with my freakouts, nuances and ideologies, existed.
